The storm formed far from land, about 1,200 miles west of the Azores. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Andrea carries sustained winds of 40 mph and moves east-northeast at 17 mph.
Importantly, it poses no threat to St. Maarten or any other land areas.

Short-Lived System

The system will not last long. Forecasters expect Andrea to weaken tonight and dissipate by Wednesday evening.
Since the storm formed over cooler waters and faces strong wind shear, it lacks the environment to intensify.

Monitoring Continues

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten (MDS) confirmed they are tracking Andrea.
Although there is no local impact, the MDS will provide updates if conditions change.
