The formation of a new government on Sint
Maarten is almost complete. Formateur and
caretaker Prime Minister Luc Mercelina (USRM)
announces that the swearing in of the
ministers is scheduled for November 26.
Mercelina received the final report from the Sint
Maarten Security Service on November 4th with
the screening results of the ministerial candidates.
The final report of the Attorney General was
received earlier. In consultation with Governor
Ajamu Baly, Mercelina confirmed that he will hand
over his final report on the formation to the
Governor on November 15th.
With the installation of the new government, the
composition of the parliament on Sint Maarten
also changes. Four members of parliament will
transfer to the government. Mercelina and Richinel
Brug of the URSM party, Grisha Heyliger-Marten of
the DP and Melissa Gumbs of the PFP will take up
ministerial positions.

Brug becomes Minister of Health, Social
Development and Labor, Heyliger-Marten takes on
Tourism, Economic Affairs and Transport, and
Gumbs is given Education, Culture, Youth and
Sports. Mercelina returns as Prime Minister.
The new members of parliament are Christopher
Wever and Veronica Jansen-Webster (URSM),
Dimar Labega (DP) and Raeyhon Peterson (PFP).
