On Friday, June 13th, 2025, Sint Maarten will proudly commemorate the 40th Annual Flag Day.

This year’s celebration will unfold at the Leonald Conner School grounds in Cay Bay, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The event kicks off with the Patriotic School Parade, a vibrant display of national pride and unity.

The parade begins at the entrance of Billy Folly Road, in front of the Market Garden Supermarket, continues along Welfare Road toward Caribbean Cinemas,

and concludes at the school’s parking lot.Flag Day, while not a public holiday, remains a significant occasion for the island.

Since 2022, the Department of Culture has enhanced this celebration with the Patriotic School Parade to promote national pride among the island’s youth.

The initiative strengthens nation-building efforts by involving students directly in festivities that highlight cultural heritage and patriotic values.

For the 2025 edition, three schools—Leonald Conner School, Sister Regina Primary School, and The Seventh Day Adventist School—will represent the districts of Simpson Bay, Cole Bay, and Cay Bay, respectively.

More than 700 students and teachers are expected to participate.Throughout the event, attendees will witness a Flag Hoisting Ceremony, official addresses by dignitaries, and engaging cultural performances.

The parade and ceremony will also feature local entertainers such as King Beau Beau, Ilismo, and DJ Pauly, adding a lively rhythm to the patriotic proceedings.

Youth talents, including the reigning Junior Calypso King, King Jojo, and 1st Runner-Up Princess Peterson, will also perform.The Sint Maarten Flag,

designed by Roselle Richardson and officially adopted on June 13, 1985, remains a powerful emblem of identity and heritage.

As part of the build-up to the commemoration, the Government Administration Building will be decorated in red, white, and blue. Minister of Education, Culture, Youth & Sport, the Honorable Melissa Gumbs,

has urged residents and businesses to join in by flying the flag on vehicles, buildings, and storefronts.

She also reminds citizens to follow appropriate flag etiquette to honor the symbol with the respect it deserves.

Flag Day 2025 marks not just an anniversary—it reaffirms Sint Maarten’s commitment to unity, culture, and the enduring spirit of its people.
