Press release police Sxm. About 09.15 pm central dispatch received a call from one of the Police officer driving on the Welfare Road, who noticed two men all dressed in black robbing a supermarket. This supermarket is located about 200 meters from the the crossing heading into Pelican. After attempting to exit the establishment the robbers who was armed with a small firearm were confronted by the officer. They was ordered to drop he weapon. During the confrontation , one of the suspects was shot by the officers. The other suspect fled in the area of Pelican Key on foot . Police are currently on the scene carrying out the investigation and searching for the second suspect. The suspect who was injured was transported by ambulance to the Sint-Maarten medical center in serious condition. This investigation is ongoing.
