During the recent FCCA Conference at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort,
the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) Special Team actively maintained security and order throughout the island.

Operating from October 21 to October 25, the team focused on highly visible, preventive policing strategies to support the event.
Officers, equipped with a detailed operational plan, conducted a series of organized actions across the island.
Enhanced Patrols and Surveillance
To maintain a continuous and noticeable police presence, officers patrolled on foot,
by bike, and in patrol cars around key conference locations.
Their presence helped deter potential issues and assured the community of active law enforcement.
Traffic Control and Towing Enforcement
The team performed routine traffic checks with a focus on towing vehicles parked illegally,
especially near Maho’s main roundabout and surrounding roads.
Officers issued fines to vehicle owners for any parking or traffic violations, ensuring order and safety on these busy routes.
KPSM officers followed strict guidelines on subsidiarity and proportionality, aiming to balance enforcement efforts with community welfare.
Focused Operations and Key Results
On Thursday, October 24, the team divided into two groups.
While one group remained in Maho, the other addressed rising concerns over theft in Philipsburg.
The groups later regrouped to concentrate efforts in Maho.
By the end of the week, the operations produced several significant results:
Traffic Fines Issued: 129
Vehicles Inspected: 247
Arrests Made: Two individuals were arrested—one for narcotics possession and one for possession of stolen goods.
Additionally, officers conducted searches on nine vehicles and 15 individuals in connection with narcotics, and checked 16 scooter riders.
KPSM expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes of the operation and reaffirmed its commitment to visible,
proactive enforcement to ensure the safety of Sint Maarten’s residents and visitors.
