Dutch Minister of Defense Ruben Brekelmans Visits Caribbean Islands for WorkJan. 2, 2025
From Monday to Wednesday,
Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans (VVD) visits the Caribbean islands of Curaçao,
Aruba, and Sint Maarten to familiarize himself with the defense units stationed there, according to the Defense Command Navy.
In Curaçao, the minister tours the Parera Naval Base, Suffisant Naval Barracks, and the Military Training Area at Wacao.
In Aruba, he inspects the Naval Barracks in Savaneta.
On Wednesday, Brekelmans visits the Coast Guard and the Marine Support Base at Point Blanche,
where the Marine Detachment on Sint Maarten is based.
He also meets with the Governors and Prime Ministers of the Dutch Caribbean countries during his visit.
