Upon arrival at Parliament, the Secretary General of Parliament, Mr. G.J. Richardson LLM, ML, gave a presentation outlining the structure of Government in general and the role and responsibilities of Parliament in particular.
This was followed by a mini quiz based on the information shared during the presentation. The students also participated in a reenactment meeting for which they played the roles of Members of Parliament,
Ministers, and Secretary General of Parliament.
There were two items on the agenda for discussion, namely “Education for everyone, and More places where young people can engage in activities”.
The mock meeting was chaired by the first Vice-President of Parliament, MP Sjamira D.M. Roseburg.
Other Members of Parliament and staff of the Secretariat of Parliament were also present and provided guidance where necessary.
After the mock meeting, the students were given the opportunity to pose questions to the Members of Parliament present concerning their role as a MP.
The visit ended with a group photo.
