Working Together for a Future Without Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women

Together for a Future Without Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women
United for Change in the Caribbean
From June 16 to 19, the fifth edition of the No Más No More work conference was held in Sint Maarten. The event brought together professionals from all six Caribbean islands of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Government officials from the Ministries of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), Education, Culture and Science (OCW), and Justice and Security (JenV) were also in attendance.
A Clear Message: Collaboration is Key
At the heart of the conference was a shared goal: ending domestic violence and violence against women. The participants focused on working together to progress toward ratifying the Istanbul Convention, which outlines legal standards to protect victims and prevent violence.

Six Core Themes, One Common Purpose
Delegates from each island created action plans centered on six essential themes:

- Gender equality
- Temporary barring orders and time-out methods
- Mental health and domestic violence
- Behavioral change through awareness campaigns
- Data collection
- Support for undocumented victims
These themes directly link to specific articles in the Istanbul Convention. Each action plan was tailored to the needs of the individual islands while reinforcing the collective vision.
Building on Shared Commitments
The conference also reaffirmed the priorities outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed during the previous No Más No More gathering. These include:
- Shelter care across islands
- Protection codes
- Research and data
- Raising awareness
- Knowledge exchange
- Capacity building

A Powerful Pledge
“The theme of this conference is more than a slogan—it represents a bold commitment to concrete action… No Más, No More—Not Here, Not Anywhere,”
— Hon. Minister Richenel Brug, Sint Maarten
Moving Forward Together
The No Más No More working group, made up of representatives from all six islands and the Ministry of VWS, will continue to implement the action plans. They will do so in close cooperation with partners across the justice and social support sectors.
Lasting Impact
The conference offered a space for honest dialogue, shared learning, and practical planning. Delegates left with renewed determination and tangible strategies. Together, they are shaping a safer, fairer future—free of violence, full of hope.

Together, we say: No Más. No More. Not Here. Not Anywhere.
