actively participated in the Political Dialogue on Parliaments in Climate Action and a Just Transition, as well as the Parlatino Board of Directors (Junta Directiva) meeting.

Both events took place at the Parlatino Headquarters in Panama City, Panama, and brought together parliamentary leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Political Dialogue provided a platform for dynamic exchange and collaborative commitment to climate action.

Discussions addressed critical themes, such as “From Climate Change to Sustainable Development,” “The Function of Legislation,” “The Representation Function,” and “Global Challenges, Regional Solutions.”
These topics emphasized the pressing need for comprehensive parliamentary engagement in responding to the climate crisis. By the Dialogue’s conclusion, all participants—including

Mrs. Wescot-Williams—signed the Resolution of the Parliamentary Alliance for Climate Action and a Just Transition.
This act formally established the Alliance and positioned its members, including Sint Maarten, as founding contributors.
This groundbreaking Resolution seeks to strengthen legislative frameworks that tackle the adverse impacts of climate change while fostering a just transition,

particularly in the Global South. Members of the Alliance committed to advancing policies on energy transition, green job creation, equitable access to climate finance,
and the protection of vulnerable communities. In alignment with the Paris Agreement and its Global Stocktake, the Alliance aims to ensure that the move toward a low-carbon economy remains grounded in social justice and inclusivity.
Moreover, several Members of Parliament from Sint Maarten, in Panama for Parlatino Committee meetings,

also engaged in the Political Dialogue. Their presence reinforced the country’s dedication to multilateral cooperation and regional climate strategies.
On June 6, during the Parlatino Board of Directors meeting, leaders reviewed recent institutional activities and addressed administrative and financial matters.
These discussions aimed to bolster Parlatino’s operational effectiveness and further unify parliamentary responses to shared challenges.
