Premier Leads Groundbreaking Trade Mission to Sint Maarten
The Virgin Islands has completed a groundbreaking bilateral trade mission to Sint Maarten,
advancing collaboration in key areas such as tourism,
agriculture, maritime affairs, financial services, and health.
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. Natalio Wheatley led the Virgin Islands delegation and
engaged in high-level talks with Sint Maarten’s Prime Minister Luc Mercelina
and senior officials from both administrations.
This mission marked a pivotal moment in strengthening ties between the two Caribbean territories.
Dr. Wheatley emphasized, “We have reinforced our shared commitment to sustainable development,
economic advancement, and regional resilience.”
He further noted,

A high-level plenary session—held both in person and online—
brought together key government figures,
including Junior Minister for Financial Services Lorna Smith, Junior Minister for
Tourism Luce Hodge-Smith, and Deputy Speaker Karl Dawson,
who leads on agriculture and fisheries.
The mission concluded with both governments agreeing to formalise
cooperation and launch joint projects in the near future.
Officials described the outcome as a powerful step toward a
“brighter, more prosperous future” for both territories.
